Doctor of Physical Therapy
Cynthia holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Binghamton in NY and a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Miami. She earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine in 2005.
She became a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopedics in 2000 and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). As a Senior Physical Therapist and Certified Athletic Trainer, Cynthia spent 10 years working with a variety of athletes and orthopedic patients of all ages, including members of the Miami City Ballet and the U.S. Tennis Association Women’s Circuit. She continues to broaden her sub-specialties as a Pilates instructor and expert John Barnes Myofascial Release therapist.
In addition to her clinical practice, she has extensive teaching experience. Locally, she has taught at Coral Reef High School, Florida International University, and the University of Miami. She currently teaches a course on Complementary Therapies and Barnes MFR electives for graduate physical therapy students at the University of Miami. She has presented at the Florida Physical Therapy Association, the Arthritis Foundation, Baptist Hospital, and has volunteered for many important community events such as the Mercedes-Benz Corporate Run, Junior Orange Bowl events, S.O.S. Save Our Sisters Breast Cancer Support Group, ITF Tennis Tournament, and JDRF Walk Zoo Miami.
Women’s health issues became her focus when she gave birth to twins in 2000. She is one of only a few physical therapists providing pelvic floor therapy for many conditions including pre- and post- natal, diastasis recti, urinary leaking, pelvic pain, endometriosis, dyspareunia, post-breast cancer and cervical/uterine cancer treatment pain.
Cynthia is passionate about health and wellness. She successfully treats complex patients with a history of multiple injuries and medical conditions and constantly reassess and refines the plan of care. By using an integrated mind-body therapeutic approach that includes Barnes Myofascial Release, an individualized exercise program, Pilates, and a holistic view to her patient’s health, she enables patients to achieve and maintain their highest level of wellness across the lifespan.
